Scottish Government announces new Minister with lead responsibility for British Sign Language (BSL)
The Scottish Government has today announced Mr Mark McDonald MSP is the Minister with lead responsibility for British Sign Language (BSL). Mr McDonald is the Minister for Childcare and Early Years. Mr McDonald works to John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills.
Mr McDonald will be the lead minister with responsibility for implementation of the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015, and for the production of the first BSL National Plan. Mr McDonald is looking forward to working with the BSL National Advisory Group and to meeting with Deaf / Deafblind people whose first or preferred language is BSL to help him prepare for his new role.
